RISE Case Study Competition
December 2023
This case study competition was directly to Georgia State University in which we examined crime near campus and dissatisfaction of students. My team and I (2 teammates) developed a website that addressed student engagement in hopes of having students more involved with the school. One feature of our website was a dashboard in which students can make posts related to events, concerns, and more. Additionally, we decided to create a section dedicated to petitioning. At GSU, students do not have a way to partake in organized petitions that are easily accessible. Our website allowed students to draft a petition that highlights an issue that GSU should address. Once posted, students with an account can sign the petition with a simple click or upvote the post. This way, students can collectively bring awareness to the university's administration.
Outcome: 1st Place
Hackhers
October 2023
Georgia State University held its first-ever all-women hackathon. The prompt for the competition was to design a solution that allows for a safe environment for women. My team and I (3 teammates) created an app called HerWorld that prioritizes safety, both physically and emotionally. Our app consists of multiple sections including HerRant and HerBlock. HerBlock focuses on physical safety by allowing women to leave reviews about unsafe locations, check for current danger zones, and receive tips. The HerRant section focuses on emotional safety. We wanted to dedicate a safe space for women to relate to one another and share their thoughts (and optionally receive advice or feedback in return).
